Job Description

Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of U.S. television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando, and Seattle.

Fox 26 KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and creative Producer who loves live morning news and thrives on creating unique content for both digital and linear platforms. As a key player on “Wake Up with Sally Mac and Lina”, this producer will need to be in the know on big news and pop culture, ready to throw out their rundown and pivot to live breaking news and severe weather coverage. This producer should be fearless and unafraid to pitch and implement innovative and sometimes wild ideas on a consistent basis, even if they don’t always stick.

The producer should be comfortable in the control room for extended periods of time for wall-to-wall coverage of breaking news or severe weather. We’re looking for someone with strong journalistic standards and the ability to write accurately and quickly, create graphics, and edit video. The producer should also be versed in social media and audience engagement and be able to translate compelling social media content and concepts to a linear audience.

Our producer must be a strong communicator and have leadership skills in order to give direction and collaborate constructively. You’ll be expected to participate in the editorial process, working closely with the Senior Producer, Morning EP, anchors, and reporters to ensure we are covering the biggest stories of the day.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required; journalism or a related field preferred. Experience as a show or line producer required. Must be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and multitask. Ideal candidate has familiarity with newsroom computer systems, graphics programs, and video editing software. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours. This position requires an overnight shift. Weekends and holidays may be assigned on occasion based on staffing needs.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
