Job Description

Stanford University's Precourt Institute for Energy seeks a public relations manager reporting directly to the director of communication. The public relations manager will promote and create Stanford energy news articles regarding research, education, and external engagement, including technology transfer. The successful candidate will also:

  1. Promote Stanford energy news and events on social media and a weekly newsletter;
  2. Develop collateral materials;
  3. Manage media requests;
  4. Update the public database of energy researchers;
  5. Monitor metrics for communication impact.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful communication while advancing written communication skills and developing domain knowledge.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Good written communication skills, reporting skills, and skills in conceptual editing, copy editing, and proofreading.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal communications groups across campus.
  • Capacity to write and synthesize materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood.
  • A personal commitment to the advance of sustainable, affordable, secure energy for all people, and of environmental sustainability broadly.
  • Experience with some of the following: Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Salesforce, and web content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal.
  • Some knowledge of energy science, technology, policy, economics, and business.
  • Ability to work with a large group of constituents at the institute, across campus, and beyond.
