Job Description:

The University of Northern Iowa's Rod Library seeks applications for a leader of its TEACH Studio (Teacher Education and Collaboration Hub), scheduled to open in Fall 2025. With its premier youth literature collection at the core, the TEACH Studio provides spaces and services that support the evolving needs of our future teachers. In addition to new and renovated collaborative spaces, the TEACH Studio will host an array of classroom-centric technology, a tech-enhanced stage for book talks and presentations, and resources to support traditional and online best practices in teaching. The space will feature comfortable areas to encourage visitors to slow down and spend time with a good book. The TEACH Studio is a collaboration with the UNI College of Education and is located at the center of Teacher Education on the main floor of the bustling Schindler Education Center. As a part of Rod Library, the TEACH Studio Coordinator will join a dynamic and collaborative group of faculty and staff dedicated to student success.

Primary Function: Develops, prioritizes, and implements the long-term vision, mission and overall direction of the Teacher Education and Collaboration Hub (TEACH) Studio; develops and implements general and fiscal policies and strategic initiatives with input from Library administration and College of Education (COE) leadership; identifies existing and projected financial needs, expenditures, required equipment, materials, services and purchases; establishes initiatives and collaborates with on-campus and external partners including regional school libraries; coordinates and chairs the TEACH Advisory Committee and serves on other advisory committees; attends COE Leadership meetings and meets regularly with departments in COE; supervises and evaluates merit staff; develops and coordinates the preparation of instructional resources for students and university faculty in collaboration with Rod Library instructional services; and identifies and selects materials to be acquired and/or withdrawn in accordance with the collection development plan.

Qualifications: Master’s degree with emphasis in library sciences; at least three years of experience working in a school library, media center or other type of library; and a working knowledge of current educational technologies required. Experience working in a K-12 setting preferred.

Compensation:
$60,000 to Commensurate
Pay Grade: 120
Pay Basis: Salary
