Overview of the Position:

The Retail Supervisor (Visual Merchandising Emphasis) is a key part of our retail management team. They assist store leadership to deliver exceptional brand and customer experiences, drive store sales, and increase profitability. Responsibilities include executing prAna marketing and promotional directives, opening/closing the store on assigned shifts, and managing store operations related to product, visual merchandising, education, back-of-house operations, store environment, and marketing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for seasonal merchandising flips, weekly merchandising upkeep, and communication with regional VM management.
  2. Delivers helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly service in person and through other means, adhering to prAna service standards.
  3. Oversees sales floor operations and directs the team to best serve guests.
  4. Provides clear, direct, and timely coaching feedback to the Store Manager.
  5. Leads by example, fostering a positive, customer-obsessed environment.
  6. Responsible for one or more Division of Responsibilities (DOR’s) within the store.
  7. Handles customer and staff concerns with poise and respect.
  8. Takes initiative to address issues during shifts following prAna guidelines.
  9. Completes store opening/closing duties, including cash handling and paperwork.
  10. Follows all prAna safety & security guidelines while on shift.
  11. Welcomes guests warmly and strives to create an exceptional shopping experience.
  12. Assists guests in finding merchandise and recommends products to maximize sales.
  13. Handles special orders, exchanges, returns, and in-store orders from prAna.com.
  14. Possesses proficiency in using prAna POS system for sales transactions.
  15. Displays a clear understanding of the prAna product line and participates in product education.
  16. Assists with inventory cycle counts, order processing, and stock room organization.
  17. Helps maintain a clean and organized store.
  18. Follows inventory control and loss prevention procedures.
  19. Assists with merchandising and visual merchandising directives.
  20. Operates within safety and security protocols.
  21. Delivers input and ideas for store and region-specific events.

Education, Experience, and Time Requirements:

  1. 1-3 years of leadership/management experience required; retail sales or customer service experience in specialty retail preferred.
  2. Experience in visual merchandising; outdoor retail specific experience preferred.
  3. Passion for the outdoors and prAna’s key fields of play.
  4. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  5. Effective communication skills; able to exchange ideas with store leadership and customers.
  6. Must be at least 18 years old.
  7. Flexibility and willingness to work an ever-changing schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to remain stationary occasionally.
  2. Ability to move about the store and communicate with others.
  3. Ability to adjust/move items weighing up to 40lbs.
