Responsibilities

Your Daily Life at Bethesda Game Studios

As Senior Technical Artist, you will...

  • Work closely with the Visual development lead to prototype the look of new graphic features (such as shaders, VFX tech, lighting tech, etc..)
  • Audit, troubleshoot and validate existing and future rendering tech.
  • Collaborate closely with graphic engineers to ensure the prototypes are achievable in term of quality and performance.
  • Interact with art department leads (Character, World Art, etc...) in order to identify their shaders needs for content creation.
  • Report to the tech art lead and collaborate with other tech artists.
  • Develop and communicate technical art standards, best practices, and techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and address performance issues in the game pertaining to Shaders, Materials, Textures.
  • Write documentation and collaborate with other teams.
Qualifications

What Makes You S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

  • You have 3+ years' experience in the video game industry in a similar role.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of PBR tech and workflows.
  • You possess a strong knowledge of shader development, node base shading editor, HLSL or other coding languages for shaders
  • You have a strong understanding of how real-time lighting works in games
  • You have experience with a proprietary engine, unreal or Unity
  • You have experience creating 3D assets (modeling, UVs, texturing)
  • You are proficient with modern art content pipelines including 3dsMax (Maya is a plus) and Substance Painter (Designer is plus)
Preferred Skills

Bonus Skills

  • You have experience with Color management workflow
  • You are experienced with Python and C++
  • You have a good knowledge of HDR technicities
  • You have experience with VFX creation
  • You shipped a AAA or an open world game
Salary Range

Senior Technical Artist - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,000 - $165,000 per year.

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At ZeniMax certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, such as merit increases and discretionary bonuses. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are not guaranteed.
