It is the basic objective of the Librarian to provide accessible tools for students and staff to direct, enhance, and support the learning process. Knowledge of curricular areas is essential in order to serve the interdisciplinary needs of the learning community. It is the goal of the Librarian to work in a flexible environment, collaborating with staff, teaching skills to students and staff, and maintaining the holdings of the Media Center.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent grammar and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel and ability to learn new computer programs pertaining to student records and budgeting
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below
- Positive public relations skills.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Informs students and staff of available technology/media and assist with its integration in the
classroom. - Assembles collections of media that support the curriculum.
- Selects materials for a variety of student/staff interests, learning styles and reading levels.
- Is aware of cultural diversity/gender fair criteria in the selection and recommendation of materials.
- Promotes ethical and efficient information seeking behaviors
- Models a variety of effective research techniques for a variety of formats for diverse purposes.
- Promotes the development of good reading habits.
- Solicits input from teachers and students concerning media needs.
- Eliminates outdated, inappropriate and unsuitable materials.
- Prepares materials for circulation
- Catalogs, classifies and organizes media according to accepted standards and read accessibility.
- Supervises the processing of materials and circulation of media.
- Works with technology and its integration.
- Assists staff to ensure technology is utilized to the fullest extent possible through meaningful integration into the District adopted curriculum.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Follows Board policies, district procedures and contractual obligations
- Evaluates situations involving staff, students, parents, the public, etc. and takes appropriate action, or directs to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Maintains integrity and accuracy of student data system (e.g. enrollment, withdrawal, attendance, classes, grade book classes and grades, medical records, immunization, security, etc.) and creates and analyzes statistical data and reports as required.
- Maintains documents, files and records
- Supports and assists the administrator with their administrative functions, by being able to make decisions and take appropriate actions in their absence.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
