Position Summary: While managing the library and media center resources,the L/MS works with teachers to help incorporate the library and media resources into their curriculum. Additionally, the L/MS offers formal and informal instruction and use of school library and media resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborative Role: Includes active consultation with teachers as they plan instruction to ensure the incorporation of appropriate library, media and technology materials into daily teaching and to recommend the inclusion of library, media and technology skills in classroom units.
Instructional Role: Includes both formal instruction in library media and technology skills as well as informal assistance to students and staff in locating and using library media materials and technology. The LMS provides leadership and expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, as well as expertise in the ethical use of information. The LMS ensures equitable access and responsible use of information.
Administrative Role: Includes the daily management of library media center routines as well as the evaluation and selection of library media materials, ordering, circulation, and the management of instructional equipment. Communicate regularly with the principal and other appropriate administrators about program plans, activities, and accomplishments

An effective LMS provides the leadership and expertise necessary to develop, implement, and maintain an information media program. This candidate will collaborate with teachers to create engaging and authentic student learning experiences that leverage both print and digital resources. Collaboration with teachers and staff to develop curricular content that integrates library media and technology skills are important for curriculum alignment and maintaining the school's mission of creating globally-minded learners. Coordinating the acquisition and circulation of library media materials and maintaining a collection that is diverse in format and content to support the learning and developmental needs of students in grades PreK-8.

- Plans and manages programming and events to support the library and school goals such as school-wide events, book fairs, clubs, etc.
- Develops and administers a library budget aligned to library, school, and district goals and objectives.

- Select the most advanced resources and equipment, both traditional and electronic, that are appropriate for accessing and producing information related to students learning needs.
- Organize materials, resources, and space to support learning.
- Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum, of students needs, and of instructional and informational resources in the full range of formats and topic areas.
- Maintain an understanding of current legislation and regulations regarding access, copyright, and other legal issues that affect the library media program.
- Attend grade level and content-based PLC meetings.
- Develop and direct a continuous collection development and evaluation process.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of the library profession regarding intellectual freedom, confidentiality, and other intellectual property concerns.
- Model ethical and responsible use of information and technology.
- Use appropriate administrative channels to ensure that the library media program is understood as essential to the schools instructional program.
- Continuously update personal competencies in learning and teaching, information access and delivery, technology utilization, and other areas to fulfill the requirements of a professional position.

- Possess a Google Educator Level 2 Certification
- Administration experience with Follett Destiny and Overdrive/Sora
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Locate and recommend quality, up-to-date digital and print resources aligned to the Primary Years Program (IB) curriculum
- Knowledge of instruction and assessment, including the ability to analyze and compare digital solutions from a variety of vendors
- Knowledge of CCSS, AASL, and ISTE standards
- Instructional technology skills, including experience using hardware necessary for the job
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other educators
- Strong organizational skills
- Participate in on-going professional development activities
- Knowledge of literature across the targeted grade levels, genres, and content areas.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and culturally relevant materials selection.

Education/Experience:
- Masters Degree from an ALA-accredited program (K-12 specialization preferred)
- Successful classroom teaching experience
- Experience with staff development or training of adults
- English proficiency with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Level B2 required, C1+ preferred (based on Common European Framework of References for Languages) or equivalent certification such as TOEFL or IETLS.
