is recruiting for an
IT Deputy Chief
for the
Public Safety Communications Division.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the business unit responsible for the delivery of the County's emergency LMR/800 MHz radio system and microwave transport program. Duties include:
Providing management oversight and direction. Conferring with staff on operational matters. Serving as a technical advisor. Resolving personnel issues. Developing and implementing policies and procedures for long range network plans and daily operations. Reviewing network integrity, security and efficiency. Evaluating and making recommendations for improvements or enhancements. Making formal presentations to large groups, including governing or managing boards in public or private meetings. Keeping abreast of technological changes. Researching and conducting cost-benefit analysis of new technologies and making recommendations for acquisition of new hardware and software. Recommending training courses for staff. Coordinating with FCC, Public Utilities, public safety agencies and other customers. Interfacing with customers to resolve service issues and concerns to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience, within the past six (6) years, proven
Land Mobile Radio or Microwave Transport
project management experience including scope and requirements definition, problem solving and process improvements, leading distributed teams in complex environments such as on-premises, cloud, or hybrid, experience with large-scale implementation projects utilizing industry standard development and service delivery methodologies. TECHNOLOGIES:
Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Systems:
Knowledge of LMR/800 MHz radio systems is crucial, as the role involves managing the County’s emergency radio system. Microwave Transport Systems:
Experience with microwave transport technology for communication networks. SUPERVISORY/LEAD EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years leading staff engaged in performing systems and/or network management in an enterprise environment related to
Land Mobile Radio or Microwave Transport . Experience must include primary responsibility for assigning/reviewing work and preparing performance evaluations. EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field. *Substitution: Two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. Application Procedure:
