Job DescriptionGeneral Nature of WorkThe Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing creative marketing strategies that promote Smith-Gilbert Gardens, the Southern Museum and Downtown Kennesaw. This role focuses on content creation, managing the city's digital and print presence, and executing marketing campaigns that engage the community and highlight the city's attractions. The Marketing Specialist will also foster partnerships and collaborations with local businesses and organizations to further enhance Kennesaw's visibility.Job Responsibilities:Promote & Implement Marketing Campaigns - Develop and execute marketing strategies for Smith-Gilbert Gardens, the Southern Museum and Downtown Kennesaw. Analyze market trends and target audience needs to create effective campaigns.Create Engaging Content - Design and produce a variety of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, print ads and digital content. Manage Digital Presence - Oversee the city's social media accounts and websites for the Gardens, Museum and Downtown Kennesaw. Ensure content is engaging, up-to-date and aligned with the city's branding and goals.Coordinate Advertising & Media Campaigns - Plan, coordinate and monitor advertising efforts across television, radio, print and online platforms.Build Partnerships - Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses, tourism partners and regional organizations to maximize marketing reach and impact.Visual Content Creation - Take photographs for marketing and promotional materials, maintaining an organized photo database for ongoing use.Evaluate Marketing Effectiveness - Track and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns and social media engagement, adjusting strategies as needed based on performance data.Assist with Event Promotion - Support special event promotions by creating marketing materials and assisting with event logistics.Represent & Advocate for Kennesaw - Attend industry events, meetings and trade shows to promote Kennesaw's attractions. Conduct tours and presentations for potential partners and clients. Perform Additional Duties - Execute other related tasks as assigned to support the city's communication and outreach efforts.Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Keen attention to detail, adaptability, and exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, provide timely and customer-focused responses and navigate city policies and procedures with precision.Exemplary verbal, written, and presentation skills, demonstrating mastery of the English language, including advanced proficiency in grammar, syntax and composition.Comprehensive knowledge of public relations principles, with the ability to craft clear, concise and impactful multi-media presentations; adept at managing websites and social media, with a commitment to staying informed of emerging trends.Demonstrates exceptional judgment, creativity and decisiveness when evaluating nuanced information that requires subjective analysis beyond purely measurable data.Preferred experience in a public sector environment; demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain productive relationships with elected officials, colleagues, community stakeholders and the public. Excels both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.Highly adept at multitasking, balancing competing priorities with efficiency and professionalism in high-energy environments.Skilled in evaluating and analyzing data, exercising sound discretion in assessing potential outcomes, identifying optimal solutions and applying strategic influence to coordinate programs and projects.Competent in the operation of specialized tools, equipment and materials essential to executing key functions.Experienced in leveraging diverse reference, advisory, and analytical data to inform decision-making and strategy development.Advanced mathematical proficiency, including calculations involving percentages, fractions, ratios, interest and measurements.Well-versed in motivation, incentive structures and leadership principles, applying independent judgment to develop innovative solutions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field; experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, graphic design, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
