The primary role of the Senior Production Artist is to design new ads and to perform modifications as needed, as well as develop various signs and support materials as needed. Leads training for all new artists and guides the team on shortcuts and time saving tips that gain efficiency to meet deadlines. Must be creative and have the ability to multitask on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Employees can be expected to be paid an annualized salary up to $60,000, based on variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Production Artist is expected to:

  • Enter new items in ad pages, including copy and images. Use sources provided to add images to pages as necessary.
  • Revise ads as required through the proofing process, checking for missing elements, re-arranging copy blocks and other ad elements as needed.
  • Monitor the page building process in accordance with deadlines, redirecting responsibilities as needed.
  • Lead Production Artists in learning efficiencies and new processes.
  • Coach Production Artists on their opportunities, strengthening skillset to gain efficiency across the team.
  • Advise Manager/Director on copy legibility and discrepancy issues in ad plans.
  • Understand the printing process to ensure that pages are built correctly for printing.
  • Follow established proofing procedures on all jobs, proofing with associates as required, initial proof approval form as required.
  • Follow established check-off procedures; drop completed files to prepress Out-Put Coordinators.
  • Release circular files to printer.
  • Provide additional creative client support on special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Mac Operator; up to 4 years computer layout experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Knowledge of creating and working with templates and style sheets; including page formatting of copy, placing photos and artwork; producing multiple versions.
  • Proficiency in all Mac-based, industry-standard software programs including, but not limited to: Adobe Creative Cloud – InDesign CS6, Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Office and Acrobat.
  • Good spelling, grammar, and typing skills.
  • Knowledge of the Windows platform.
  • Experience with data-driven page production.
  • Knowledge of all steps required for the print process and an understanding of production methods to ensure designs can be produced for print delivery.
  • General understanding and knowledge of e-marketing vehicles and specifications.
  • General advertising, marketing, and media terminology and processes.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language.
