Job Posting Name: Technical Artist Co-op
Position Type: Co-op
Job Responsibilities
- Create 3D models, materials, and textures based on CAD data, photography, or other reference.
- Optimize assets for use in real-time computer graphics engines, such as Unity and Unreal.
- Work with developers to ensure models/assets meet performance and visual fidelity expectations.
- Participate in asset creation reviews and contribute to a project along with other artists and developers.
- Meet regularly with the team to discuss progress, issues, and other feedback on the artistic process.
Skills
- Must be proficient with digital content creation software - Autodesk 3ds Max or Maya preferred.
- Understanding of UV unwrapping process.
- Familiar with PBR material workflow (Substance preferred).
- Understanding of high to low poly workflow.
- Working knowledge of game engines such as Unity and Unreal.
- Understanding of 3D model exchange formats (primarily FBX, GLTF, USD).
- Experience with rigging (mechanical/character).
- Experience with scene lighting.
- Experience rendering (real-time or offline).
- Experience with CAD software encouraged.
It is not necessary to have all of the following skills up front, but the more you have the better. Additionally, these are the types of skills that will be developed during the co-op period.
Education Requirements
Students must be currently enrolled and in good standing with the University.
