WEB CONTENT SPECIALIST

The Utah Office of Tourism (UOT) is seeking a part-time Web Content Specialist to create and edit digital content on our consumer facing website, visitutah.com.

  • Execute general web edits and build new web pages within the Content Management System (CMS) utilizing pre-built widgets. Some HTML knowledge required.
  • Curate, resize, upload and artistically arrange selected photos for optimal visual impact on the website.
  • Conduct copyediting following the guidelines outlined in the Associated Press (AP) style guide and adhering to UOT brand voice and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with an external agency to conduct audits of existing web content, ensuring pages are consistently updated with current and relevant information.
  • Analyze Google Analytics data to identify opportunities for site improvements and to address content gaps.

  • Demonstrate exceptional written English communication skills, consistently employing professional language with a friendly and helpful tone.
  • Exhibit a discerning eye for design, particularly in the strategic arrangement and layout of webpages.
  • Display strong organizational acumen to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Possess adept interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Employ critical thinking, creativity and a strong attention to detail in all tasks.

Education, Experience, and Training

  • A bachelor’s degree with major course work in business, marketing, communications, public relations or related field -OR- an equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in marketing or communications with the ability to quickly adapt to our brand identity and voice.
  • Competent using Google Workspace, Asana, and other communication tools.

Preferred

  • Experience working in the tourism industry.
  • Passion for outdoor recreation such as skiing or snowboarding, mountain biking/cycling, camping, hiking, arts/culture, food scene, etc.
  • Knowledge of/experience in government and/or the nonprofit sector.

The Utah Office of Tourism is the tourism marketing agency for the State of Utah. The mission is to promote responsible domestic and international visitation to Utah’s remarkable travel destinations. The Utah Office of Tourism is an office within the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. We are located in historic Council Hall, right across the street from the State Capitol Building at 300 North State Street in Salt Lake City.

Job Conditions

  • This position is a hybrid role. Employees who live within 50 miles of their assigned office will be required to work in person no fewer than two days per week. Potential exceptions or alterations based on business needs may occur.
  • This position will primarily use established Utah Office of Tourism communications tools Slack, Asana and Google Apps. Our content calendar is managed in Asana. This position will travel to the UOT office in Salt Lake City for weekly team check-ins plus ad hoc content, campaign strategy and kick-off meetings and may be invited to other regular meetings.
  • This position operates in a professional business environment.
