Leading and establishing a team of experienced professionals (innovative thinkers and inventive doers), our Creative Department Director brings a mix of marketing expertise and business understanding to the position, promoting our company initiatives and strategies to the next level. This person is responsible for successfully delivering innovative and thoughtful creative services in a tactical and strategic manner. In this senior managerial position, the Director will direct and oversee the creative department and related subordinated staff. The position initiates, plans and develops processes and our creative projects and will define and implement organizational policies, standards and guidelines. The Creative Department Director thinks conceptually and possesses an aptitude for visual design that services to elevate the quality of the work that flows through the company and/or department, regardless of the medium. The Creative Department Director is an experienced manager of people, someone that inspires others, taking our creative team to a new level as we continuously grow. This managerial role requires a proactive leadership style and abilities to both lead by example and build collaborative (international) teams, while effectively championing initiatives to drive and support continuous improvements of the RSG business and organization. The Creative Department Director has a natural eye for design and a drive to inspire dynamic ideas that connect with all types of targeted audiences. The Head of Creative has a strong understanding of our overall company’s vision and utilizes their expertise to plan and execute projects.
Development & Management
- Develop, establish and implement creative department procedures and standards.
- Define and monitor creative department’s goals and objectives and relevant Key Performance Indicators.
- Build, lead and review work of the creative team in the production of all web, print, and digital marketing collateral.
- Shoulder the responsibility of the quality and completion of all work projects assigned to the department (Quality Management).
- Manage a cross-functional team of highly experienced graphic designers, copywriters, social media experts, photographers/videographers, and creative producers in the strategic development of messages and deliverables.
- Prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs, establishing production schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and production teams (HR-Planning).
- Lead brainstorming sessions with the creative team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Oversee freelance professionals and vendors to complete necessary projects within a limited timeframe and/or budget.
- Drive productivity and process improvement projects in the U.S. aligned with business initiatives.
Organizational Management
- Report progress of projects at major stages of their conception, creation, and execution.
- Ensure designs and content reflect consistently and positively the various brand images and company’s current marketing strategies.
- Spearhead and manage content strategy for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design, compelling content, and technology.
- Work with executives and other creative leaders within the organization to set project deadlines and content goals.
- Head brand campaigns, including submitting ideas for projects and overseeing the development of all creative content.
- Define recruitment strategy with HR department.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring and development of employees.
- Plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees.
- Review work results.
- Develop and conduct training for method improvement ideation and implement knowhow transfer so that operations staff develop and implement continuous improvement programs in their operations.
Implementation of Information
- Develop and oversee the executive creative vision concept of RSG Group in the U.S.
- Ensure designs and content reflect consistently and positively with the brand’s image and current marketing strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between the marketing and creative team and between the creative team and individual internal clients.
- Distill abstract business concepts and client-group needs into refined, elegant creative solutions.
- Be responsible for the creative vision and the standard output across creative team members.
- Risk Management: Anticipate problems that may impede a project from completing on time and implement solutions. Troubleshoot in case of challenges. Adjust and suggest alternative solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in art, advertising, design, or marketing. Passion for fitness, health and/or wellness or similar field.
- 9+ years of related experience with 7+ years of creative direction in agency or corporate setting, with experience in creating marketing/advertising campaigns from developing vision and the message platform to overseeing production on time and budget.
- Prior experience with copywriting, design, and/or production. Prior project management experience with a focus on creative. Proven experience with concept development.
- Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with a variety of software programs, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, and other creative-related tools.
- Exercise of persuasion and influence in complex and sensitive situations within all levels of the organization to effect decisions and outcomes that align with best practices. Strong knowledge of negotiation and business acumen.
- Must have a strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives. A strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing concepts.
- Must be proactive and possess exceptional planning and organizational skills. Must have a high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Must have exceptional time-management skills and be able to execute tasks and responsibilities in an ever-changing environment.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in all various modes (verbal, written, text, etc.). Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
