The San Francisco Film School is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registrar/Compliance Officer to join our team. We are investing in a candidate with exceptional organizational skills, experience in educational environments, customer service orientation, a sense of humor, and a passion for changing lives through education.

This position requires someone located in the San Francisco Bay Area who is comfortable with on-site work. Extensive experience with learning management software in a post-secondary school is a plus. Our diverse, dynamic team thrives on self-motivation, good nature, and creativity.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

Student Records Management

  1. Maintain and update academic records, including grades, transcripts, and enrollment information.
  2. Ensure the security and confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and other regulations.
  3. Process student requests for transcripts, enrollment verifications, and other documentation.

Enrollment and Registration

  1. Oversee the course registration process, including adding, dropping, and withdrawing from classes.
  2. Monitor student enrollment statuses (full-time, part-time, etc.) and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
  3. Collaborate with admissions to transition new students into the institution.

Degree and Graduation Services

  1. Evaluate student records to determine eligibility for graduation.
  2. Prepare and issue diplomas and certificates upon program completion.
  3. Track and verify degree progress for students.

Curriculum and Scheduling

  1. Manage the academic catalog and course scheduling, including assigning classrooms and coordinating with faculty.
  2. Implement changes to academic programs or course offerings in collaboration with academic leadership.

Regulatory Compliance

  1. Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Department of Education, VA for veteran benefits).
  2. Prepare and submit institutional reports to accrediting bodies, government agencies, or other entities. This will include IPEDS, routine VA reports, and annual reports to the BPPE (State of CA) and our accreditor (COE).
  3. Keep the institution updated on changing regulations and policies affecting student records.

Data Management and Reporting

  1. Generate reports on enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and other institutional metrics.
  2. Provide data for institutional research, strategic planning, and accreditation purposes.

Customer Service

  1. Assist students, faculty, and staff with questions related to registration, transcripts, and policies.
  2. Provide guidance on academic policies and procedures.

System Management

  1. Maintain and update the institution’s Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS).
  2. Train staff and faculty on the proper use of these systems.

Policy Development and Implementation

  1. Develop and enforce academic and administrative policies related to registration and records.
  2. Advise institutional leadership on policy updates or changes.

Audit and Documentation

  1. Conduct regular audits of student records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  2. Prepare documentation for institutional audits or reviews.

Support Institutional Goals

  1. Collaborate with various departments (e.g., admissions, financial aid, and academic affairs) to support student success and institutional objectives.
  2. Participate in initiatives to improve processes and enhance the student experience.
  3. Contribute to a positive, creative workplace culture.
  4. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, compliance, or a related field.
  2. Extensive experience in a post-secondary educational environment.
  3. Strong understanding of government regulations and accreditation requirements (COE, DOE, VA, etc.).
  4. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.
  5. Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. A positive attitude with excellent customer service orientation.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and creative environment.

Compensation

$95,000 - $105,000 yearly
