Overview
The RF Engineer IV performs a variety of duties associated with the designing and developing the RF components within a complex integrated circuit (IC) where multiple functionalities are combined on a single chip, focusing on optimizing performance, power consumption. Will focus on RF SoC Technology, leading the design efforts of RF Hybrid micro electronics as detailed in MIL-PRF-38534/5. This role leads complex Integrated Circuit design, mechanical and electrical analysis, process development, and process improvement efforts related to analog, digital, and/or mixed signal integrated circuits.
Responsibilities
- Defining the overall RF system architecture within the SoC, including power amplifiers (PAs), low noise amplifiers (LNAs), mixers, filters, voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs), and other RF building blocks.
- Designing individual RF circuits at the transistor level using EDA tools, simulating their performance, and optimizing parameters to meet desired specifications.
- Execute Integrated Circuit design assignments using ceramic, plastic, and organic materials typically creating complex new designs, including heterogenous materials.
- Research, identify, and work with suppliers, develop new substrates, materials, interconnects and lids based on product requirements.
- Collaborating with digital and analog design teams to seamlessly integrate RF circuits with other functionalities like baseband processing, memory, and power management units on the SoC.
- Analyzing the overall RF system performance, including signal quality, power efficiency, linearity, and sensitivity, and making adjustments to the design to achieve optimal results.
- Developing algorithms and procedures for on-chip RF calibration to compensate for manufacturing variations and ensure consistent performance across different devices.
- Mentor other engineers, designers and drafters in the tools, techniques, and skills required to accomplish work assignments.
