What You’ll Do

Lam Research is looking for an experienced UI/UX Design Architect to be part of a dynamic IT team supporting Lam’s Global Information System. This position’s primary responsibility is to ensure that Lam’s business applications have the right UI and thus improve the user experience and productivity. The UI/UX Design Architect will be responsible for working across multiple groups, functions, and geographies to successfully deliver business value. This individual will need to have excellent communication skills, determination, and perseverance to be successful.

The role also requires strong knowledge of UI/UX design principles and best practices, proficiency in design tools such as FigJam and Figma, and experience in leading UI/UX projects and establishing design standards.

Who We’re Looking For

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic design leadership aligned with business goals, collaborating with stakeholders for design strategies.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and data-driven design decisions through user research.
  • Optimize the design process for efficiency and quality, maintaining design guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, and usability testing to inform design decisions and iterate on products.
  • Create clear information architectures, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and design mockups.
  • Ensure product accessibility compliance (e.g., WCAG, ADA, W3C) and stay updated on industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design with business objectives, effectively communicating design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Spearhead the development of digital branding guidelines and identity systems, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand experience across all user touchpoints.
  • Develop low and high-fidelity designs/mockups.
  • Establish and lead the UI/UX Center of Excellence (COE) within GIS, providing overall UI/UX design strategy, leadership, and guidance on GIS-led projects.

Develop and maintain standards, best practices, and guidelines for UI/UX design.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Degree in Design or Computer Science or related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in design work.
  • Proficient in Figma, FigJam, Miro, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Experience in Figma/Figjam Administration.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, with a foundational understanding of front-end development concepts.
  • Well versed with UCD Design Methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • JIRA
  • Reputable UX Certification
  • Experience in a global, multinational environment supporting enterprise applications.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $111,000.00 - $244,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
