If you're passionate about education, youth development, and college advising/writing, there is a place for you in the Minds Matter SoCal community!
We work to empower low-income, high-achieving students by celebrating their voices, tackling challenges, and providing tailored support to help them achieve their college dreams. Whether you’re interested in helping students shape their college essays as a Writing Coach or guiding them through the admissions process as a College Advising Lead, there are so many ways to make a meaningful impact. These roles are at the heart of our mission, working hand-in-hand with students to elevate their voices and help them achieve their dreams.
Ready to make a difference in a student's life? Come and join us to meet current volunteers in these roles, hear their stories, and see how your time and skills can make a real impact. We can't wait to meet you and show you how you can be a part of something bigger.
What to Expect:
- Learn about the powerful impact of Minds Matter on students and how you can contribute.
- Hear firsthand from current volunteers and alumni about their experiences.
- Step into a session and get a real sense of what it's like to be a part of our unique community.

- "I was inspired by the students-they’re hardworking, intentional, and it’s a privilege to support them."
- "It’s so fun! Plus, there’s training and support, so you’re never alone in this journey."
About Minds Matter:
Minds Matter connects driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. Every day we listen, learn, and grow with our students celebrating their voices and uniting behind their dreams. We believe a student’s zip code shouldn’t limit their opportunities for college or life. No matter where our students are from, they have strong visions for where they want to go. We work every day to deliver progressive and tailored programs that empower dreams, cultivate growth, and tackle challenges first generation/first in their family students face in their journey to college. Because college shouldn’t be a barrier - it should be a beginning.
