Client Overview:

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Technical Designer for a contemporary apparel brand. The Technical Designer will play a key role in developing and executing trend-forward, high-quality designs that align with the company’s vision and aesthetic.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$35/hr – $40/hr

Position Overview:

In this role as a Technical Designer, you will support the technical design process from concept to production, ensuring that all garments meet fit, quality, and construction standards. This is a contract role for the Technical Designer, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities of the Technical Designer:

  • Collaborate with the Design team to conceptualize and develop seasonal collections that reflect market trends, customer preferences, and brand objectives.
  • Research industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer insights to inform design strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Assist in creating detailed technical sketches, CADs, and design boards for presentations and production handoffs.
  • Work closely with the Sourcing and Production teams to select fabrics, trims, and other materials that meet design and quality standards.
  • Review and provide feedback on samples, ensuring designs are executed accurately and meet company specifications.

Required Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:

  • At least 5 years of experience in fashion design, preferably with exposure to contemporary brands.
  • Proficiency in design software and sketching tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and production processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
