Summary:
The food checker checks, packs and organizes food items and kitchen equipment for events for Design Cuisine Kitchen in the Arlington, VA/DC area.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Set up crescors for events
Double check menus to ensure all food items are loaded for event
Pack any necessary kitchen equipment needed for events
Organize crescors/refrigerators/freezers/coolers so that items travel well
Organize the same so that event kitchens are easily set up
Pack special orders from dispatch or purchasing
Dispatch events to drivers
Keep box 8 clean
Keep dispatch area clean and organized
Pack kitchen ‘emergency’ boxes
Keep kitchen apprised of any delays in dispatching events or if food items are missing, not ready, or incorrect
Reports to dispatch manager and executive sous chef.
Qualifications:
Must have good organizational skills
Must be able to work with others
Must be able to work at a quick pace
Must be able to work under pressure
Must be able to solve practical problems
Must have understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling
Two years cooking experience
Must have working knowledge of basic weights and measurements
Must be able to stand/walk for lengths of time.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and some climbing.
Must be able to use hands and fingers.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
