Summary
The Music Teacher is responsible for introducing the world of music to children ages 6 weeks through age 5 using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences in a multi-faceted preschool program. This position is 2 mornings a week.
Reports to School Co-Director(s)
Part Time 10 hours/week with opportunity for additional hours, $15.50-$19.00/hour

Duties
- Introduce children to the world of music using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of materials, resources, and experiences.
- Prepare and lead our annual Christmas program and spring concert.
- Complete lesson plans and goals in a timely fashion.
- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class at all times while in your care.
- Serve as a role model for the children in the areas of attitude, speech and actions on a daily basis and treat each child with dignity and respect for his/her cultural background.
- Accept and maintain responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and cleanliness of the learning environment.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a complementary degree is preferred but not required. Musical background preferred.
- Must meet Virginia licensure requirements and child care certification as necessary.
- Pragmatic experience in a school setting.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to perform physical labor as needed for the position.
- Willing to become familiar with licensing standards, rules and regulations in regards to the health and safety of students.
