SUMMARY Under general supervision, researches, writes, edits, indexes, and revises highly diverse user documentation. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) Literature releases per month. Schedule attainment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Creates and revises technical documentation to support the operation, repair, and maintenance of company products. Analyzes and interprets engineering drawings as well as other technical data to translate information into technical documentation. Communicates complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately. Proofreads and edits documents to ensure information is complete and up-to-date. Works closely with project managers, engineers, and other technical staff to clarify and create technical copy for product information and specifications. Updates documentation on the internet and intranet, as needed. Ensures consistency in documentation across multiple publications regarding terminology, style, and editorial quality standards. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, business or related field and 2 years of technical writing and editing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing manuals, user guides, and/or product specifications is preferred. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Excellent grammar, verbal, and written communication skills. Skilled in using InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator or comparable editing software. Skilled in creating illustrations using CAD. Knowledge and application of standard document formatting. Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize assigned work and manage time. PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS Non-Manufacturing: Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time Ability to lift boxes/materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively Worker occasionally accomplishes tasks in manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas where there is exposure to vibrations and moderate-to-loud noises. When in these areas, worker must be aware of and exercise caution around hazardous conditions such as electricity, moving equipment, moving parts, refrigerants, chemicals, torches, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, and contaminants. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required of job when worker is in the manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas. PPE includes but is not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed footwear.
