Job Description
Job Title: Technical Director Date: January 2025
Reports To: Vice President / General Manager American Fan is looking for a seasoned, process-oriented leader for the role of Technical Director. This person needs a strong background in engineering, project management, quality and continuous improvement with a strong focus on growth.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and be able to develop strong relationships across all functional areas within the organization, customers and vendors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Direct and oversee all engineering disciplines and quality within the organization.
• Oversee and manage new product launches ensuring timely submission of bids, adherence to process specifications, accuracy of financial projections, and seamless cross-functional coordination to meet project milestones and business objectives.
• Lead and oversee capital and manufacturing projects, ensuring effective planning, budgeting, and execution while optimizing resources, mitigating risks, and delivering projects on time and within scope to support business growth and operational efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and continually refine engineering and quality strategies, policies, and procedures to boost efficiency and product quality.
• Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality product output and seamless integration of processes.
• Embrace and drive the culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on strong processes.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards across all areas of operation.
• Develop and manage budgets for all departments under your supervision.
• Develop and implement an organizational structure capable of supporting the site objectives.
• Recommend new or leading-edge technologies, methods, tools and procedures.
• Manage the performance and provide career development opportunities to all the employees under your supervision.
• Analyze key process indicators and establish action plans to close gaps where necessary.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in successful new product launches.
• Demonstrated experience in leading design engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and quality teams.
• Strong process-oriented mindset with a proven track record in driving continuous improvement.
• In-depth knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
• Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire and guide a team.
• Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects to successful completion.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills with a focus on Excel
