The Summer Camp Head Counselor position at Camp Hoblitzelle provides an exceptional opportunity to lead, mentor, and grow in a vibrant, Christ-centered community. As a Head Counselor, you will oversee a team of counselors, manage daily camp operations, and foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for both campers and staff.

Key responsibilities:
- Supervision and Guidance:
- Provides guidance and positive role modeling to campers and staff, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Plans, implements, and coordinates the daily schedule for Counselors to ensure appropriate coverage of campers at all times.
- Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions.
- Demonstrates effective camper behavior management.
- Promotes and stimulates camp counselor and camper participation.
- Camp Leadership:
- Oversees a group of counselors, assisting each counselor in adjusting to camp life.
- Enforces compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations.
- Maintains precise and current records and reports concerning attendance and discipline.
- Sits with cabin tables during meals to encourage conversation and camaraderie.
- Camp Community Engagement:
- Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program.
- Participates enthusiastically as a leadership team member in all-camp activities.
- Integrates faith into daily activities.
- Program & Activities Assistance:
- Assists counselors with planning quality program activities.
- Promotes quality of programs and safety of campers.
- Engages in essential ministry duties.
- Safety and Security:
- Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of campers during all camp activities.
- Anticipates safety hazards and initiates contact with supervisors.
- Conduct nightly cabin checks to ensure a safe environment.
- Supervises cabin clean-up and work details.
What we are looking for in you:
- Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate; some college preferred.
- A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.
- Self-motivated and teachable.
- Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships.
- Prior knowledge and skills training in Child Education, Children’s Ministry, Outdoor/Sports Education or similar field is recommended.
- Willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.
- CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Some physical requirements of the Camp Head Counselor position include endurance, climbing, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours is required.
