The Chief Advancement and Marketing Officer (CAMO) brings together two key functions – fundraising and marketing/communications – to advance the mission of the Louisiana SPCA (LASPCA). The CAMO will develop marketing and communication strategies that highlight the organization’s mission, programs, and impact, all while nurturing existing relationships and forging new relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to raise the funds needed to deliver programs and services. Charged with overseeing both development and marketing efforts, the CAMO is responsible for building and managing a high-performing, mission-driven development, marketing and communications team members. The role encompasses marketing and public relations strategies increasing awareness, preference for, and loyalty to the LASPCA brand which will drive revenue growth through fundraising and signature donor event management. The key roles for this position are:Lead and manage team
Provide role clarity to team members with specific performance metrics to ensure the team’s performance meets or exceeds fundraising and marketing targets. Drive strategy execution by fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous learning across departments and ensuring consistent communication. Ensure team members have the skills and tools necessary to succeed. Executive Leadership Team Leadership, Planning & Strategy:
Participate as staff lead on board of directors’ development and marketing/communications committee. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the development and marketing/communications team, ensuring transparency and accountability. Revenue Generation and Development
Lead efforts to raise $2.5 million annually, scaling to $5 million within three years through the acquisition, retention and growth annual fund gifts (recurring and major gifts), planned giving, capital campaigns, corporate partnerships and grant writing. Ensure the proper stewardship of gifts and donor relationships celebrating and acknowledging donors’ contributions to LASPCA. Develop and maintain a robust donor pipeline to support the organization’s long-term goals. Identify and implement technology solutions to support fundraising and marketing operations and to enhance donor engagement, digital campaigns, and stewardship. Marketing and Communications
Develop and implement a marketing and public relations strategy to support fundraising efforts, including branding, collateral materials, social media content, and other communications. Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, and services, engage and mobilize supporters to advocate for the LASPCA’s mission and impact on the community. The CAMO will work closely with the program & services teams to ensure marketing and public relations strategies and tactics are aligned with and support mission and operating needs. Ensure cohesive messaging across all communication platforms, including print, digital, and social media. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and fundraising materials, making data-driven adjustments to maximize engagement and drive revenue. Serve as an ambassador for the organization at community events, conferences, and other public forums to enhance LASPCA’s visibility and influence. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
10 years progressive experience in development with a strategic focus of which at least 3 years of experience relates to strategic communications and marketing. At least 3 years directly managing a high-performing team, maximizing outcomes while providing the highest level of mission-impact and support. Strong collaborator with interest and ability to build relationships at all levels internally and externally. Proficient knowledge of development and marketing/communications applications and tools, complex CRM and donor management systems. Experience in developing presentations and analytics. RequirementsEDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in sales, marketing, fundraising, communications, public relations or related field or directly equivalent experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role requires regular talking, hearing, sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. WORKING HOURS & TRAVEL: The CDMO Position works a minimum 40-hour week. Some evening and weekend hours will be needed to meet the community and the strategic revenue growth plan for the LASPCA. Travel is primarily local but will from time to time include attendance at key events and meetings throughout the United States, overnight travel. The CDMO position is strongly desired to be within regular commutable distance of the Greater New Orleans area.
