TECHNICAL PRODUCTION A2

Department: Production
Supervisor: Director of Production
Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal
Compensation: $30 - $32 per hour (pay based on experience)

Caramoor Center for Music & The Arts is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of A2 for its Summer Concert Season, with an anticipated start date of May 17, 2025.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Production, the A2 will help manage the sound crew (as assigned by the Director of Production). The A2 is a seasoned stagehand with significant experience in live concert audio and has experience in a variety of venues. They will work to make sure all sound equipment is ready for each production, and ensure it is properly struck following each performance. The A2 is responsible for the setup of sound equipment on stage, as advised by the Director of Production, including mic placement and backline. The A2 must be immediately available as needed during the entirety of rehearsals and performances. If the Artist is providing a sound designer or crew, the A2 will be available to assist and advise as needed. As a member of the crew, the A2 may also be assigned other duties as delegated by the Crew Chief. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, keeping backstage and storage areas clean and organized, transporting materials throughout the campus as needed, loading and unloading trucks, and supporting the Artists as needed. The A2 must observe all safety procedures, and ensure the sound crew adheres to them as well.

Qualifications:
  • A working knowledge of all aspects of the theatre – production and technical, as well as performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and work effectively on a team.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work on many projects and changing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and be flexible to changing plans, and while demonstrating dedication, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Must possess organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Must have at least 2 years of professional audio experience (note: music/concert experience is preferred)
  • Must have reliable transportation and live within 50 miles. A valid driver’s license, are required.
  • Must have authorization to work in the U.S.


Work Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to work during weekends, evenings, and holidays, with a flexible schedule as needed for events. Typical hours include Thursday-Saturday 11am-11pm, and Sundays 9am-7pm.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing, and/or walking for long periods of time.
  • Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions while observing safety procedures.
