Job Summary: 

Rebecca Rose Fine Portraits is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Portrait Editor/Assistant Photographer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for refining and enhancing portraits to achieve our signature luxury aesthetic, ensuring every image meets the highest artistic and technical standards. Additionally, you will assist in photography sessions, helping to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for our clients. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, proficiency in photo editing software, and a passion for storytelling through imagery. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as you will collaborate closely with our photographers and clients to bring each portrait to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Portrait Editing & Retouching

  • Advanced Editing: Utilize Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to edit and retouch high-end portrait images, ensuring consistency with the studio’s artistic vision and brand standards.
  • Retouching Skills: Perform detailed retouching tasks, including skin smoothing, blemish removal, color correction, exposure adjustments, and enhancing fine details, such as hair, makeup, and wardrobe elements, while maintaining the authenticity of the subject.
  • Artistic Enhancements: Apply creative color grading, contrast adjustments, and other artistic techniques to enhance the visual impact of each portrait.
  • Workflow Management: Adhere to the company’s specific editing workflows to maintain efficiency and consistency, ensuring timely delivery of all projects. Organize and oversee your studio team's files and delivery of images to the correct team members or clients.
  • Quality Control: Conduct final reviews of applicable images, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards before client delivery.
  • Product Finalization: Submit your finalized retouched images after quality control, for production at our professional printing lab.

Backup Photography Support:

  • Assisting with Photography Sessions: Serve as a backup photographer for portrait sessions as needed, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for clients. This includes acting in both the “assisting role”, and as the “lead photographer” (the roles are interchangeable, all studio staff are cross trained).
  • Lighting & Composition: Support the lead photographer by assisting with setting up lighting equipment, props, and adjusting compositions to ensure a flawless final product.
  • Client Interaction: Help create a comfortable and engaging environment for clients during photoshoots, especially during family or children’s sessions.
  • Collaborative Role: Work closely with photographers to achieve cohesive results, ensuring the artistic vision for each session is captured both during photography and editing.

Collaborative & Independent Work:

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the photography and production teams to ensure all work aligns with the company's brand standards and client expectations.
  • Independent Execution: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality and consistency.
  • Constructive Feedback: Participate in regular team meetings and discussions, offering and receiving routine constructive feedback to refine processes and improve output.

Studio Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the editing team and other staff members to ensure seamless client experiences
  • Collaborate with the Editing Manager and the Director of Studio Operations, on various projects and initiatives

Client & Colleague Communication:

  • Maintain open communication with the team, providing updates on project status and image availability
  • Participate in regular team meetings, offering and receiving constructive feedback to help refine studio processes

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Mondays. Compensation is $21.00 - $23.00/hour.
