YOUR ROLE
Our Customs Entry Writer plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing of our import shipments by preparing and submitting necessary customs documentation. You will ensure compliance with all applicable customs laws, regulations, and company policies while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely import entries and related documentation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, customs officials, and other regulatory agencies
- Manage all aspects of PGA filings, including ensuring the correct information is submitted to regulatory bodies such as the FDA, USDA, EPA, Fish and Wildlife, etc.
- Review and verify import documents for compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and partner government agency requirements
- Analyze and resolve issues related to customs clearance, including addressing discrepancies and making necessary corrections
- Stay up-to-date with changes in customs laws, trade regulations, and PGA guidelines to ensure compliance
- Work with clients to resolve any customs or PGA-related issues that may arise during the import process
- Maintain accurate records of all customs transactions, filings, and communications for auditing purposes
- Provide guidance on classification, tariff codes, and PGA documentation requirements
- Collaborate with other members of the customs and compliance team to ensure smooth operations and timely clearance of goods
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
- Previous experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or import/export operations
- In-depth knowledge of Partner Government Agencies (PGA) and their specific import requirements.
- Strong understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), customs duties, and other relevant trade compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs entry systems (e.g., ACE, Automated Commercial Environment).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) is beneficial
- Comfortable with occasional visits to ports, warehouses, or customs facilities
