Optum AI is UnitedHealth Group’s enterprise AI team. We are AI/ML scientists and engineers with deep expertise in AI/ML engineering for health care. The Senior UX/CX Designer will report to the UX Team Lead and is expected to closely collaborate with the UI, Developers and TPM teams as needed. The Senior UX/CX Designer responsible for orchestrating the overall user experience and customer experience design initiatives for the platform, ensuring cohesive and intuitive interactions across all features.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead the UX/CX Design Efforts: Take ownership of the overall user experience and customer experience design for the United AI Studio platform. Develop and maintain design standards and guidelines to ensure a cohesive and intuitive experience across all features

Oversee Feature Design: Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective design solutions. Use Figma to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that align with user needs and business goals

Mentor Junior Designers: Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to junior designers and contractors on the team. Support them in delivering high-quality designs and help them develop their skills in UX/CX design

Usability Testing: Coordinate and conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of design solutions. Analyze the results and iterate on designs based on user feedback and data-driven insights

Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align on design goals, requirements, and implementation. Communicate design decisions effectively and advocate for the user throughout the development process

Stay Updated on UX/CX Trends: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/CX design. Continuously improve design processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the overall design capabilities of the team

Documentation and Communication: Document design decisions, guidelines, and patterns for reference and future use. Clearly communicate design rationale, concepts, and solutions to stakeholders and team members

Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the user experience and propose innovative design solutions. Collaborate with the team to implement enhancements and iterate on existing designs based on user feedback and data analysis

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in UX/CX design, with a focus on digital products or platforms

Experience in overseeing and delivering successful user experiences

Experience in using design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs. Ability to create visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies. Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and translating insights into actionable design solutions

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders

Experience mentoring and guiding junior designers to deliver high-quality designs

Proven solid strategic mindset with the ability to think holistically about the user experience and contribute to the development and maintenance of design standards and guidelines

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex design challenges and propose innovative solutions. Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
