Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire an RF Field Engineer. This position will be responsible for the FSS process of RF studies pertaining to his/her service territory; furthermore, the responsibilities include operations and maintenance scheduling, customer interface, subcontractors, network deployment, optimization, and customer acceptance.

Responsibilities

  1. Main responsibility is certifying the RF equipment utilized in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks. The RF equipment consists of proprietary cellular type base station hardware used in reading and communicating with electric, gas, water, lighting, and various other endpoints.
  2. Utilization of Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) for work schedule, data tracking, operational verification, certification of equipment tracking, and paperwork.
  3. Provide written documentation, screen captures, photography, or any other mechanism to a host of internal and external resources.
  4. Oversight of contractor installation groups used in installing the RF equipment and provide feedback on their installations.
  5. Troubleshooting networks that fail to meet or maintain the minimum contractual levels or System Level Acceptance (SLA).
  6. Interference mitigation in the Sensus licensed spectrum, faulty installations of the RF network equipment, base station hardware or power system failures.
  7. Provide feedback to the internal RF Design group, VARs, installation contractors, or any other entity that requires the tracking and management of installations.
  8. Participation in pilots, test phases, and proof of concept to increase market share.
  9. Maintain projected response times called out in the contract for NaaS (Network as a Service).
  10. Conduct routine meetings to help solidify projected versus actual field performance metrics.
  11. Primary interaction and workload will be directed by the Project and/or Program Managers.
  12. Training and support will either come from the Senior RFE or the regional RFE.
  13. Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.

Job Requirements

  1. This role is hybrid-based when not traveling to customer sites.
  2. Work-related experience including AMI / AMR, military, cellular, industry preferred with a focus on RF field related background.
  3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential. Ability to work under pressure and provide high-quality solutions. Must be able to work independently and function as part of a team.
  4. Must be literate with all MS Suite applications, general computer skills, able to type efficiently, and have knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM applications.
  5. Must be literate in using RF field test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzer, Wattmeter, loads, attenuators, etc.
  6. Understanding of antennas and capabilities, cable types, backhaul, etc.
  7. Unix, Linux, Oracle, MSSQL background is a plus.
  8. Understanding of programmable DC power systems and associated battery plants.
  9. Reliable transportation to travel throughout the region, valid driver's license, and clean driving record.
  10. This position requires extensive travel, as much as 70%.
  11. Availability to be on call.

Desired Job Qualifications Skills

  1. Knowledgeable in BICSI, ANSI, and TIA Standards.
  2. RF Infrastructure installation experience.
  3. Linux experience.
  4. Mapping software experience such as MapInfo, Streets & Trips, Delorme.
  5. Propagation analysis experience such as Techwizard, Vertical Mapper, Planet EV.

  1. Some physical work is to be considered which can consist of climbing ladders, hauling equipment necessary to perform certification operations.
  2. Location of equipment varies from indoor and outdoor environments and work is performed in all seasons of the year.

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location.
