Work Schedule: Library Assistants may be assigned to the Chester Campus or Midlothian Campus; 20-29 hours per week; schedule may include day and/or evening hours.

Job Description:
Brightpoint Library is seeking to fill a Library Assistant position. Library Assistants, under the supervision of the Library Director, work directly with students, faculty, and staff to provide information services. Assistants perform a combination of the following duties:

  1. Staff the in-person and virtual Information Desk.
  2. Respond to patron queries that include use of library and other information resources.
  3. Navigate common software platforms.
  4. Troubleshoot computers and equipment.
  5. Process interlibrary loans.
  6. Assist with student orientation and engagement activities for the library.
  7. Assist with library promotional activities.

Library Assistants may be assigned to the Chester Campus or Midlothian Campus; 20-29 hours per week; schedule may include day and/or evening hours.

Special Assignments:
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a highly technological and team-oriented environment. Both flexibility and ability to adapt to ongoing change. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

Additional Considerations:
Experience in a library, museum, archive, or bookstore. Experience using online resources such as e-books, databases, social media, and streaming video. Familiarity with Google Suite, MS Office, Teams, and Zoom.
