Job Description
General Functions
Under general supervision of the Senior Manager, Marketing, the Marketing Specialist supports organizational initiatives and activities that engage with candidates for CFP® certification, ensuring they advance successfully through the certification process, including direct/email marketing, advertising, digital media, and candidate mentor program management. The Marketing Specialist also project manages the production and creative design for department collateral and resources, designer/writer freelancers, and promotes CFP Board products and events as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Works with Marketing team, marketing agency and internal departments to execute marketing programs.
- Supports a broad range of marketing activities designed to support candidates through the CFP® certification process.
- Uses data to monitor and report on program/campaign progress and effectiveness.
- Supports marketing efforts that include email, direct mail, digital advertising, telemarketing, website content, webinars, videos, marketing lists management and other channels in support of organizational goals.
- Project manages production, print, and mailing of direct mail programs – including providing printer specs, procuring estimates and evaluating costs, managing postage requests, executing mailings and receiving invoices.
- Manages weekly order fulfillment of CFP® certificate and brochure orders.
- Identifies and segments audiences via Netforum database for email marketing efforts.
- Reviews and approves emails, digital and print collateral and mailing proofs for accuracy.
- Writes, edits and proofreads copy for various marketing efforts including emails, collateral, website content and reports.
- Oversees candidate engagement program (mentor program, candidate webinars, handbooks and toolkits, webinars) marketing and reporting results.
- Implements comprehensive marketing plans for annual conferences (email, direct mail, Cvent website development), including on-site environmental branding, collateral and logistical support.
- Executes A/B tests for assigned marketing programs to optimize results.
- Assists internal departments and provides project management for collateral creation working with external writer/graphic designer freelancers.
- Updates program dashboards and presents marketing results in written, PowerPoint and oral formats.
- Manages certificant testimonials used in marketing collateral.
- Attends financial industry events/conferences and manages the CFP Board tradeshow booth, directly engaging with stakeholders and candidates for CFP® certification.
- Routinely monitors and provides prompt replies to marketing-associated email inboxes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Background/Skills/Abilities Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years’ related experience with marketing programs and/or promotions.
- Working knowledge of direct response marketing (digital, email, mail, and telemarketing) highly desired.
- Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements.
- Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, experience in writing marketing copy.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment; comfort working in a time sensitive, deadline-oriented environment with frequently changing priorities.
- High degree of self-responsibility and ownership of assignments.
- Experience with print production, direct mail and email marketing execution.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others.
- Ability to manage outside vendors and address issues that arise.
- Knowledge of AMS or CRM databases a plus.
- Must be proficient using MS Office suite.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to travel some nights and weekends to financial industry events/conferences.

This position is based in the Washington D.C. office and works a hybrid schedule which could be changed at any time.

CFP Board is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The applicable starting annual base salary is anticipated to be in the range of $63,500.00 to $75,000.00. In addition to base salary, total compensation includes incentive compensation for which employees are eligible based on completion of individual goals.
