Chief Objective of Position

Adjunct faculty supplement the full-time faculty by teaching courses which are necessary for the department but for which instructors may be lacking. The goal of this position is to facilitate our ability to meet the growing needs of the department in this area.

Job Summary

Adjunct instructors will be expected to teach courses in photography. Experience in both analog and digital photography is expected, and candidates must be able to teach studio lighting. Current areas in need include: photography I, digital photography I, and digital photography II. Other opportunities may exist to teach studio art, graphic design, or art appreciation courses, depending on the department’s scheduling and the instructor’s skillset.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, moving, and some lifting.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy one of the following requirements: 1) a master’s degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching; 2) enrolled in a master’s program with at least 18 hours of relevant coursework completed; 3) significant professional experience, subject to approval by the Provost.

Preferred Qualifications

MFA degree with some teaching experience at the college level. Experience as a graduate teaching assistant may be acceptable.

Education

Adjunct faculty must hold an advanced degree or equivalent credentials based on experience consistent with accreditation criteria of the discipline and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
