Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Designer to work in our X-Ray and Neutron Sciences department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.
You will assess engineering requirements and translates into technical blueprints, drawings, layouts, and simulation models using CAD/CAM/CAE software or applying standard CAD/CAM/CAE techniques to digitize, edit, and revise engineering drawings of components, parts, and assemblies. Customize CAD/CAM/CAE software to model complex or unusual designs.

Responsibilities Include:
- Apply experienced multi-disciplined CAD drafting skills and techniques to prepare new computer-generated models, drawings and drawing changes to support multi-disciplined company engineering activities consistent with company and nationally recognized standards.
- Lead the design team to develop complete design and CAD models compatible with applicable codes and standards and pre-established cost, scope, and schedule dimensions for purposes of fabrication, installation, construction or modification of nuclear facilities, structures, systems and components (SSCs).
- Provide drafting checking support for assigned group's experiment drawings, including mechanical, electrical, piping and instruments drawings (P&IDs)
- Lead in the selection of nuclear components, specifications, and acceptance criteria to be communicated through associated engineering documentation to support the end use.
- Check drawings ensuring Fit, Form, and Function for Drawings of all complexity.
- Provide design guidance to Engineering and supporting organizations.
- Direct the work efforts of drafting personnel to achieve cost-effective engineering project cost management.
- Train/mentor peers in the application of multi-disciplined design development skills and techniques.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 1: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution. Associate Degree and 2 years or drafting certificate and 4 years or 6 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Level 2: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of experience. Associate Degree and 4 years or drafting certificate and 6 years or 8 years experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience using SolidWorks 3D modeling software. Must have overall understanding of various types of drawings (e.g. mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, structural, civil, and specialization in mechanical and electrical.
- Experience with 3D printing
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($56,196 - $109,644) / Level 2 ($65,064 - $133,416). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
