Job Description – Technical Writer
Location: NOVA, Maryland, DC / Remote
Part time – 15 hours/week
Start date – Mid march
Our client provides software-based cybersecurity solutions for networks that operate critical infrastructure including Department of Defense, financial, renewable energy, and telecommunications. The client has built the most secure PKI offering available commercially and is working to expand its product portfolio.
As a Technical Writer, your role is creating user-friendly documentation that enables customers, developers, and internal teams to understand and use software products effectively. You will work closely with project managers, developers, and support teams to ensure documentation aligns with user needs and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and maintain high-quality user documentation, including templates, API documentation, and release notes.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content.
- Collect and organize current technical documents to develop standardized templates, workflow documentation, and improve overall formatting for more professional and presentable materials
- Edit and proofread technical content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability.
- Manage documentation repositories and version control systems (e.g., Confluence, GitHub).
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and software documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, English, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or technology-driven company.
- Strong ability to understand and document software architecture, APIs, and development workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Confluence, Git, or similar. Familiarity with JIRA.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
