The Students' Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) is a non-profit organization working independently from MacEwan University to support students. Our purpose is to enrich the student experience by focusing on their non-academic needs through an array of student-driven programs and services.

PURPOSE
The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing digital marketing communications for SAMU. The position is responsible for creating and maintaining SAMUs social media calendar, creating and publishing email marketing and ensuring the website is functional and current. The position develops communication strategies and recommendations for all digital channels to maximize student engagement.
This position reports to the Marketing Services Manager and works closely with the Videographer and photographer.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Website Maintenance & Updating 25%
- Create and Update website content and navigation accordingly for all Marketing requests from SAMU departments. (I.e. programs, services, events)
- Make recommendations for improvements to website content, structure, navigation, functionality, and UX.
- Perform regular website maintenance, ensuring consistent and updated content
- Provide problem-solving and solutions to other departments through Digital Marketing Requests.
- Provide recommendations for digital tools and integration to the website as needed
- Work with external web developers on specialized projects (Adding new functions to the website, improving templates, maintaining website backup, etc.)
Social Media 25%
- Develop and maintain weekly, monthly and yearly social media/content calendar
- Develop content (photo & video) by attending various programs, services and events (Sometimes off campus)
- Collaborate with the Videographer and Photographer in the creation of content as needed
- Create and manage paid digital ads for selected campaigns.
- Schedule all social media posts (including writing) using LATER social media planning platform
- Execute all social media posts and recommend tactics to support project objectives
- Stay up to date on social media trends and make recommendations to enhance engagement
- Make recommendations for the implementation of user-generated content
- Respond to comments and inquiries from social media promptly
Strategic Planning 15%
- Collaborate with the Marketing Services Manager to:
- Develop and maintain Content Calendar
- Grow social channels through engaging content
- Ensure consistency of content through digital marketing channels
- Development of the annual digital marketing plan
Email Marketing 15%
- Develop and publish the biweekly student email newsletter
- Create sign-up forms and automated registration emails as needed for various events
- Manage newsletter schedule and ensure communication of deadlines
Reporting and Analytics 10%
- Collaborate with the Marketing Services Manager and Web Developer to:
- Provide the organization with regular reporting on digital communication channels performance and make recommendations as needed
- Provide analytics for individual initiatives
Other 10%
- Other duties as assigned
- Create and maintain external relationships with applicable MacEwan staff (Other digital marketing coordinators).
- Maintain all additional digital applications (I.e. Link in Bio, Snap widget)
- Maintain digital signage (Digital Screens) scheduling, including paid and non-paid content.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related fields
- 1-2 years of digital marketing experience preferred (Other combinations of education and experience considered)
- In-depth experience working with various social media and CMS platforms, along with related tools to publish content
- Experience writing and developing content (copywriting, social media posting, blogs, etc.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including creative copywriting
- Experience developing and marketing content (both traditional and digital)
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (i.e. WordPress, Divi Builder), Google Analytics, and social media planning platforms (i.e. Later, Hootsuite)
- Outgoing and collaborative personality who isnt afraid of being on camera (if needed) and interacting with groups of people
- A passion for staying current on digital marketing communications and trends
- Time management skills to juggle multiple priorities at the same time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and a variety of in-house clients
- Excellent problem-solving skills

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This full-time position features full health and dental benefits, RRSP/TFSA contributions, and a great working environment. Regular work hours are between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Although rare, there are times when some weekend and evening work is required.
