Job Title Myaamia Education Content Specialist Department Myaamia Center Worker Type Temporary (Fixed Term) Pay Type Hourly Benefit Eligible No Job Description Summary This position will reside within the interdisciplinary research and educational team of the Myaamia Center at Miami University and report to the Director of the Education Office. The primary purpose of this position is to collaboratively develop and manage educational resources and opportunities for learners through the Miami Tribe's online educational portal (aapohkaayoni) and tribal summer youth programs (eewansaapita summer youth experience). This includes, but is not limited to, reference materials, learning activities, and online courses. This position will primarily focus on distance learning curricula and from time-to-time support in-person programming. Applicants should also have relevant experience in managing learning materials and spaces to support staff in conducting online and in-person courses. This position will be 100% remote. Job Description Duties and Responsibilities: aapohkaayoni 'online portal' - tasks include: Create new learning resources that align with the current offerings. Manage content for online courses and programs. Teach online courses with support from the Education Office. Collaboratively develop new online courses. Assist in supporting online learners in utilizing online resources. Collaboratively develop and maintain online iterations of summer programming. Eewansaapita Summer Youth Program - tasks include: Collaboratively work to advance community cultural and language knowledge. Collaboratively develop new learning resources in alignment with current offerings for the Miami Tribe community. Collaboratively evaluate and develop learning objectives for the curriculum. Create and revise lessons and activities for summer programming. Teach content in person to youth participants. This position requires travel (some weekends) to participate in Myaamia community events that occur most often in Oklahoma or Indiana. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in education by date of hire and one or more years of relevant teaching experience. In order to fulfill the duties of this position, applicants must have a working knowledge of Myaamia language, culture, history, ecology and experience in delivering Native American content in a community setting. Consideration will be given to applicants with experience as a licensed teacher.
