Job Description
Elle Decor seeks a Senior News and Strategy Editor to oversee day-to-day editorial coverage on all of their digital platforms. The Senior News and Strategy Editor will field pitches from staffers and freelancers, assign and write stories and ensure that the site features a daily mix of timely, compelling and relevant pieces that drive traffic and engage key audiences. This role will also be instrumental in growing Elle Dcor's membership program and social presence on all platforms.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
Oversee scheduling, editing and publishing of daily story lineup, ensuring a robust mix of content that reflects the identity of ElleDecor.com
Manage a team of editors and writers, to produce a steady stream of smart, engaging content
Constantly be on top of the news and trends to surface compelling stories that have the potential to go viral and get attention
Assign stories to and manage relationships with freelancers
Work with the membership and newsletter teams on content creation and strategy
Qualifications
Who you are: 6+ years' editorial experience, with at least 5 years in digital
Excellent writing and editing skills
Well-versed in using various analytics tools (Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Omniture, Facebook Insights, etc.,)
Keen sense of news cycle and story ideation
Robust network of freelancers to call upon
Strong organizational skills
High internet news metabolism with a willingness to work
Strong grasp of social media
The base salary for this role is $74-$90k. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This position is based in the NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
