Position Summary:

MIU seeks a creative and collaborative Library Website Developer to design, develop, and maintain the library's online presence. This role will be integral to supporting student, faculty, and staff needs through an accessible, functional, and user-friendly website. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical expertise, experience in web development, and a passion for enhancing digital library services.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain a responsive and accessible library website that enhances user engagement and supports research and learning.
  2. Ensure seamless integration between the library’s website and other systems, including the Integrated Library System (ILS), research databases, digital repositories, and discovery tools.
  3. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the library’s web-based services.
  4. Enhance website performance, ensuring fast loading times, intuitive navigation, and mobile compatibility.
  5. Train and support library staff in using the content management system (CMS) and other web-based tools.
  6. Ensure website security, perform regular updates, and manage backups in collaboration with the IT department.
  7. Create and maintain documentation for web-related processes, systems, and procedures.
  8. Provide training for library staff on web tools and CMS usage.
  9. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with web development (front-end and back-end) using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and related frameworks.
  • Proficiency with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
  • Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and user-centered design principles.
  • Strong understanding of library technologies and platforms (e.g., LibGuides, integrated library systems).
  • Experience with SEO, web analytics, and performance optimization tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with non-technical staff.
