Scopes of Service :
The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing user interfaces that are not only visually appealing but also intuitive and user-friendly, enhancing the overall student experience. The UI Designer will provide strategic and functional advice and guidance to the project director, implementation leads, Digital Transformation Project (DTP) teams and division directors on business/functional-related matters, ensuring that business strategies align with the overall project goals. Additionally, this role will facilitate collaboration between departments, SUNY campuses, and external vendors to ensure all project requirements are identified, procured, and available to meet the project schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with product managers, user experience (UX) designers, developers, and educational stakeholders to create and implement design solutions. • Design user interfaces for student systems that align with brand guidelines and provide an optimal user experience. • Develop wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design ideas effectively. • Incorporate user research findings and feedback into UI designs in collaboration with UX designers. • Conduct usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate based on user feedback. • Ensure designs are responsive, accessible, and adhere to best practices and accessibility standards. • Participate in design reviews and offer constructive feedback to team members.
Required Experience:
• UI design experience in education, government, and corporate projects, with a focus on application development (preferred). • Experience providing strategic advice and guidance to senior management on business/functional matters. • Expertise in evaluating and improving business processes and systems for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness. • Proficiency in utilizing data analytics to drive business insights and identify opportunities for digital enhancement
Contract Term, Work Location, and Other Work Information :
Contract term is two years with an option for a one-year extension.
Primary work location is State University of New York System Administration, H. Carl McCall SUNY Building, 353 Broadway, Albany, NY 12246.
Remote work within the United States may be allowed at SUNY's discretion, with approved arrangements including specific connectivity requirements.
