WATE, the ABC Affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee is looking for an Anchor/MMJ to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will anchor our midday newscast and report for our morning show. We are looking for an energetic morning person, who can deliver everything from hard news to features. Someone who brings enterprise coverage ideas to the product on day one.

The Anchor serves as the primary presenter of midday news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful. We're seeking a strong speaker and storyteller with excellent shooting and editing skills. The successful candidate will be asked to work solo on stories and will be a major part of the station's online success by posting timely updates, stories, and other content on our social media platforms.

Responsibilities

1. Presents news stories and other content for all platforms that is clear, engaging and meaningful.
2. Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
3. Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
4. Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news stories.
5. Acts as a field reporter as assigned.
6. Conducts interviews and pitches stories to news managers.
7. Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
8. Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
9. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
10. Social Media Savvy: Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.

Requirements & Skills

1. Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
2. Fluency in English.
3. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.
4. Minimum three years experience in news reporting or anchoring.
5. Superior on-air presence.
6. Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
7. Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.
8. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
9. Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
10. Flexibility to work any shift.
11. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
