Position Description:
The Communication and Community Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in managing all communication strategies and public engagement initiatives. This role is central to ensuring effective communication, community engagement, and positive relationships with various stakeholders. The Communication and Community Engagement Manager is responsible for leading efforts in crafting communication materials, engaging with the media, fostering community relations, and enhancing the overall image of the Court. This position reports to the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Place 2, to ensure the effective implementation and delivery of programs that support the Court's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications:- Perform administrative support for the Judge, including coordinating communications, scheduling meetings, and maintaining calendars.
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with the goals and objectives of the Justice of the Peace Court.
- Spearhead, edit, and review content for various social media platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the court's messaging and branding guidelines.
- Prepare reports, presentations, documents, and other information necessary to support and advance the goals of the Court.
- Coordinate and facilitate in-person and virtual training, workshops, and other educational activities to support the professional development of Court staff, interns, stakeholders, and constituents.
- Lead and manage the coordination and successful execution of wedding services and related activities.
- Act as the primary liaison between the court and the media, handling media inquiries, arranging interviews, and preparing press releases and media alerts.
- Organize and coordinate community events, educational programs, and outreach initiatives to enhance understanding and awareness of the judicial system.
- Develop and distribute informational materials, including brochures, newsletters, and online content, to enhance public understanding of court processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with Chief Clerk and Assistant Chief Clerk to oversee and organize the Judge's official schedule, encompassing appearances and meetings outside of the court hearing dockets and settings.
- Manage and mentor communication interns, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and growth.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum two (2) years of communications experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in government or project management.
- Significant experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in media management, social media platforms, and various communication software/tools.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License (upon hire).
- Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
- Exceptional communications skills, verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation with a keen sense of effective messaging.
- Possesses exceptional project management skills to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and ability to create strong, positive working relationships.
- Demonstrates awareness and respect for cross-cultural differences and creates innovative and inclusive solutions.
- Encourages a respectful and collaborative work environment that recognizes and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Ability to speak effectively before a wide range of public and private organizations, officials, and media representatives.
- Knowledge of current multi-media, printing, and graphic design methods and technology.
- Ability to independently assimilate facts and draw sound conclusions.
- Skilled at working collaboratively with a commitment to serving the public.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations specific to the area of responsibility.
- Proven track record of successful community outreach and public relations.
- Experience with specific communication or engagement software used by the county.
- Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: Regular Full-time, Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, subject to evening and weekend work for attendance at community meetings and events.
- Salary: Depends on Qualifications, based on 26 Pay Periods, plus benefits.
- Work Environment and Physical Demands: Standard office role that requires staying stationary for long periods of time, operates in a workstation within a professional office environment, as well as community centers, meeting halls, other public offices, etc.
- Location: John Phelps Courthouse - 101 S. Richey St. Suite B, Pasadena, TX 77506.
