Summer Camp Female Counselor/Music Instructor (Music Conservatory) - Camp Grandview Jasper, GA

Position: Summer Camp Counselor / Female (Music Conservatory)

Position Type: Overnight Residential - Temporary Full-Time

Pay Rate: $400.00 weekly

About this opportunity:

Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of children and youth; promotes quality of programs and safety of campers; provides guidance and role modeling to campers; promotes and stimulates camper participation; coordinates and leads campers through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; supervises campers during unscheduled program time and evenings; ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations. The incumbent also functions as a music instructor to assist and support the musical component of the Music Conservatory program.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled activities and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
  • Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience.
  • Supervises cabin clean up and work details.
  • Coordinates and leads youth through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility.
  • Lives with a group of campers and helps each camper adjust and get to know other campers and camp life.
  • Interprets and maintains camper compliance with camp rules and safety regulations.
  • Assists with program activities and other activities as assigned working closely with the program staff.
  • Be prepared with rainy day activities as needed.
  • Inspects fire extinguishers and reports to Head Counselor if any extinguisher has been dispensed.
  • Makes sure all cleaning solutions are locked up except during use and used only under supervision.
  • Ensures adequate space in cabins for safety and movement.
  • Stays in cabin with campers at night and ensures proper supervision.
  • Moves with campers to all classes and activities and remains with them unless otherwise noted.
  • Maintains an incident report book on all campers for each camp session and notifies Head Counselor of any serious situations.
  • May be asked to teach a class or assist with one.
  • At the end of each camp session, cleans cabins and ensures sanitary conditions.
  • Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in a safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of campers.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for activities and ensures safety in their use.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports.
  • Assists in leading campers during various activities.
  • Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team.
  • Serves as a table monitor during meals.
  • Keeps personal living quarters neat and ready for inspection.
  • May assist in cleaning the cabins and kitchen.
  • Provides quality music instruction to campers.
  • Teaches music theory and provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
  • Plans schedules and monitors student work to ensure accuracy.
  • Recommends and develops activities to enhance musical abilities.
  • Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students.
  • Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through activities.
  • Performs necessary ministry functions such as leading devotional material.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred.
  • Six months experience teaching music education preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor position could include endurance, climbing, standing, bending, and stretching. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours.

Additional Information:

Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 9 – 15, 2025, and participation is required. The 2025 summer Camp program session will be held June 16 - July 19, 2025.
