Job Description

Design structural portion of Power Distribution Center projects and smaller enclosures.

Read and interpret project specifications and project proposals and project schedules. Create 2D drawings of structural skid, floor plate, walls, ceiling and roof with required cutouts using the latest version of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical.

Arrange internal equipment based on proposed layout, while adhering to safety and required Code working clearances.

Work with Structural PE to verify integrity of design and obtain approval stamp. Create Material Take-Off for structural components, including doors, windows and insulation.

Prepare design package for transmit IFA to customer and then IFC to shop.

Design lift plan for PDC (to be verified by structural PE).

Job Requirements

Interface with sales, engineering and shop personnel in a team oriented, professional manner. AAS CAD Technology, or equal job experience.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a structural designer role.

Advanced drafting / AutoCAD skills. Ability to read and interpret structural / welding symbols.

Strong analytical skills and ability to contribute to simultaneous projects. Ability to create structural skid layouts and wall, roof, and ceiling construction designs.

Basic understanding of HVAC systems and spatial organization. Ability to interact with shop personnel and monitor project progression.

Ability to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve problems independently with minimum supervision. Basic computer skills using MS Office and Cloud based storage.

Ability to apply NEC, IBC, Fire Codes and International Mechanical Code Uniform.

Basic understanding of HVAC systems and special organization. Ability to apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.

Innovative to improve existing products.

Ability to design products in the most economical way while achieving high quality and safety. Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Preferences

Fluent in English / Spanish verbal communication.
