ABOUT UT SOUTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTER The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world. SUMMARY Works under minimal supervision to direct the philanthropy communications programs at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Ten (10) years of related experience required. PREFERRED: Supervisory experience preferred. Marketing Cloud experience preferred. An advanced degree in public relations, communications, or constituent relations preferred. Experience applying such knowledge in an academic medical center setting preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven organizational skills. Ability to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex environment. Ability to monitor and maintain budget. Ability to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures of the university. Ability to work with confidential information on a daily basis. Ability to articulate the needs, interests, and accomplishments of the University to a wide range of audiences. Good interpersonal, supervisory, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and exercise decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to read, write, develop plans, procedures, and coordinate persons and other resources to accomplish goals. Knowledge of personal computers. Ability to lead committees as appropriate. Telephone and personal contact with all levels of internal and external personnel and organizations. Essential Functions Provides overall leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive philanthropy communications program in support of UT Southwestern. Works collaboratively with communications colleagues throughout the University in developing and executing a communications plan for donors and potential donors. Oversees the development of a core case of support for the medical center and its distinct units. Oversees and coordinates the establishment of communications standards for publications, web sites, campaign materials, and collateral documents. Guides, oversees, and coordinates the Friends publications for various community groups supporting the University’s clinical and research endeavors. Coordinates the internal communication of policies and procedures for faculty and staff giving to UT Southwestern Medical Center. Coordinates the development of communication campaigns describing philanthropic opportunities. Serves as the department’s key liaison in working with colleagues across the University. Recruits and builds a talented and experienced staff. Identifies and prioritizes key target audiences and shapes consistent themes and messages. Remains up to date with best practices standards and establishes metrics for benchmarking performance. Performs other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums require prior approval of the Vice President for Human Resources or his/her designee. This position is security-sensitive and subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215.
