The Opportunity The Director, Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to support the commercial success of our DM1 (Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1) product portfolio. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to help drive product launches, market penetration, and brand awareness. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of the biotechnology and rare disease markets, with a proven track record in marketing strategy, product management, and team leadership. What You Will Contribute
Strategic Marketing:
Actively engage in the development of the DM1 strategic brand plan and market research plan to identify growth opportunities and ways to build competitive advantage. Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated launch plan and launch readiness. Manage pre-market commercialization development and post-commercialization marketing efforts across key customer segments and channels. Brand Management:
Drive implementation of disease and brand campaigns, including the development of core messaging, and ensure consistency across all channels. Lead the development, execution, and U.S. implementation of core promotional initiatives and materials for key stakeholders, with a focus on healthcare professionals. Oversee the development and execution of marketing-specific activities related to medical conventions, exhibits, and trade shows. Manage materials, projects, and resources through the internal review committee process (PRC). Partner with Marketing Operations to develop a robust speaker’s bureau. Lead development of commercial congress activities. Partner with training in the execution of new training materials or initiatives. Collaborate with the digital marketing team to ensure strategic alignment across all marketing plans and initiatives. Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with multiple functional groups across the organization, including but not limited to Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Operations, Legal, Patient Advocacy, and Sales. Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and key opinion leaders. Budget Management:
Responsible for the management of multiple Agency Partners including management of associated budgets, forecast and accruals, and vendor contracts. Compliance:
Ensure all marketing activities comply with regulatory and legal requirements. What We Seek
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, life sciences, or a related field is required. An advanced degree (MBA, MS) is preferred. 10+ years of experience in marketing within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on rare diseases or specialty markets. Proven track record of successful product launches and brand management in a highly regulated environment; launch experience is required. Previous HCP marketing experience required. Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders. Requires up to approx. 30% travel. What We Will Provide To You The base salary range for this role is $223,250 - $246,750. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors. Avidity offers competitive compensation and benefits, which include the opportunity for annual and spot bonuses, stock options, and RSUs, as well as a 401(k) with an employer match.
