Education and Experience High school diploma/GED. One (1) year of experience in computer use.

Licenses or Certifications Cape Coral Police Department 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator training program certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion. Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion. FCIC/NCIC certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.

Key Responsibilities

Monitors and responds in an appropriate manner to 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone lines and TDD devices for incoming requests for service of the City's law enforcement, fire/rescue and emergency medical agencies. Responds quickly and correctly to calls, assumes control of the conversation in order to obtain accurate information from callers and correctly transfers the information into a computer while talking and assessing the priority of the request for service. Answers all incoming calls to the City's 911 center; disseminates information and performs routine clerical tasks. Perform other related duties as required.

Leave Time

Block of hours which incorporates sick and vacation. Accrues at 16.67 hours per month for an annual total of 5 weeks (200 hours). Accrual increases to 20.00 hours per month after 6 years of service and continues at a yearly increase after 10 years of service.
