Overview:
WRAL News, a leader in award-winning journalism, is seeking a Streaming Editor/Producer for WRAL News Plus. This role requires a skilled storyteller with experience in live streaming, video editing, and production. The ideal candidate will anchor live and recorded segments, edit video content, and oversee production workflows for digital streaming platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Editing & Content Production:
- Edit video content, including news packages, interviews, and feature stories, ensuring high-quality output.
- Utilize editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.) to enhance visuals, graphics, and audio.
- Ensure fast turnaround for breaking news and timely content.
- Engage in editorial discussions, pitch new ideas, and meet deadlines.
Producing & Content Strategy:
- Plan, script, and produce engaging segments tailored for digital streaming audiences.
- Collaborate with reporters, videographers, and content creators to develop compelling stories.
- Oversee the technical aspects of production, including lighting, sound, and camera setup.
- Ensure content aligns with brand voice, audience preferences, and streaming platform best practices.
- Situational awareness and strong news judgment to quickly change news and weather content to breaking news and weather coverage.
Platform Management & Audience Engagement:
- Adapt content for various streaming platforms (YouTube, Facebook Live, Twitch, etc.).
- Monitor analytics to optimize content performance and audience engagement.
- Implement interactive elements such as live Q&As, polls, and viewer participation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 3+ years in broadcasting, digital media, or video production.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Media Production, or related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in video editing software, live streaming tools, and newsroom production systems.
- Production Knowledge: Understanding of lighting, audio, camera operations, and multi-camera setups.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Collaboration: Team player who can work across departments to create high-quality content.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with OTT (over-the-top) streaming services.
- Familiarity with SEO and social media strategies for digital content.
- Background in breaking news or live event coverage.

- Lifting & Carrying Equipment: Occasionally required to lift, carry, and set up production equipment, such as cameras, tripods, and lighting gear (up to 25-50 lbs).
- Visual & Auditory Requirements: Strong eyesight and hearing necessary to monitor audio levels, video quality, teleprompter reading, and audience engagement.
- Mobility & Stamina: Ability to move between studio, newsroom, and field locations as needed, sometimes in fast-paced or unpredictable environments.
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Ability to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on production needs and breaking news coverage.

- Fast-paced, high-pressure environment, especially during live broadcasts and breaking news events.
- Must be able to multitask, manage last-minute script changes, and adapt quickly to technical or editorial adjustments.
- Regular interaction with producers, reporters, camera operators, and digital media teams.
- May require remote collaboration with contributors, guests, and content partners.
