Simpson University invites applications for a full-time (12-month contract) Director of Bands beginning Fall 2025. As the Director of Bands, the successful candidate will be able to provide energetic, servant leadership over the development and recruitment of newly created band ensembles that will include Simpson University's inaugural marching band. The position will also provide leadership for wind and jazz ensembles. A significant element of this position will involve recruiting students to Simpson and its bands programs. As administrative faculty, the Director of Bands will also be expected to teach a limited number of courses based on departmental needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide effective administrative leadership over bands programming for the
- Directs all aspects of the Simpson University bands, including recruiting, arranging, program development, performance planning, and fundraising.
- Develop and recruit extensively for the inaugural marching band as well as the full band program that will also include pep, concert, and jazz band.
- Organize and conduct effective music ensemble
- Provide visionary leadership and coordination for music performances on campus and in the community, including performances at university athletic events.
- Conduct private music instruction on individual's primary instrument(s).

- An earned doctoral degree in music preferred; master's degree with 18 or more graduate units in music will also be
- Wind, brass, and/or percussion specialist with knowledge of instrumental music, arrangement, and band
- Evidence of excellent band pedagogy and
- Experience in recruitment for band and music programs is
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and
- Experience teaching music recording and computer music technology, or professional experience in the recording industry is a plus.
- Experience working with a diverse student population and a commitment to inclusion and
- A personal commitment to Christ and faith integration at a Christian liberal arts institution is

Salary Range: $66,560 - $76,000 Annually
