Overview
The Communication Center Coordinator is responsible for ensuring quality 24-hour dispatching operations of emergency and non-emergency calls. The Coordinator will coordinate the work of the Communication Specialist/Technicians and ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures. The Coordinator is expected to perform all of the requirements, duties, and responsibilities of the Communication Specialist/Technician.
Responsibilities
Communication Center Coordination
- Coordinates all Communication Technician/Specialist responsibilities.
- Coordinates assignment of personnel to all relevant Guardian Air Transport committees and monitors participation.
- Prepares and operationalizes the work schedule for the Communication Center.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, training, performance, and work allocation in coordination with Management.
Administrative
- Oversees ongoing communications center operations (scheduling, safety, marketing, supply, and equipment).
- Responsible for completing performance evaluations.
- Serves as a resource for the staff in the communications center.
- Acts as a liaison at Run Review, safety meetings, and monthly leadership meetings.
Operations
- Serves as a resource for the radio, phone, billing, report writing, and computer programs utilized by the Communication Center.
- Provides training to the Comm Techs for current systems utilized by the Communication Center.
- Stays current with the most recent dispatch and report writing software products.
- Works with Management in the development of educational requirements and offerings.
- Works in the role of a Communication Tech dispatching calls, variable shifts, when needed.
Documentation
- Implements and maintains records and follows reporting procedures to ensure compliance with requirements for ADHS, Risk Management, and Pre-Hospital Care Departments.
- Recommends and implements department-specific policy/procedures to meet department needs.
- Collects all department statistics and prepares reports as needed for QI/QA/CAMTS and other departments requiring data/reports.
Compliance/Safety
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues.
- Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
- Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies impacting the employee's area of responsibility.
- If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED - Required
Certification & Licensures: Valid Arizona Driver's License with no moving violations within the prior 36 months - Required; Current Arizona Driver's License with a driving record free of any offenses affecting insurability under NAH CP111 Motor Vehicle policy - Required; Heartsaver - Preferred; Current IAMTCS certification within 1 year from date of hire - Required; Current EMD certification - Preferred
Experience: One year experience as a dispatcher - Required; Two years' experience EMS dispatching - Preferred; Office/administrative experience - Preferred; Medicare/Insurance billing experience - Preferred; Team coordination experience - Preferred
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
