Part-Time On-Call Communication Center Operator
The starting rate of pay is $24.43. Any hours worked between 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM will be paid with an additional $00.75 per hour shift differential.
Hours: The hours are not fixed for a part-time on-call Communication Center Operator. There is no predetermined schedule. Instead, the operator will be called in as needed to fill shifts, which are usually known in advance. However, there may be instances where the operator is contacted at the last minute to cover for an unexpected absence.
Introduction
The Communications Center Operator operates the Lincoln Airport Authority communication and security systems and monitors electronic equipment alarms.
Essential Functions
- Monitor security system and initiates an appropriate response.
- Operate public address system.
- Answer multi-line phone system, including accurately interpret customer needs, provide information, or direct callers to appropriate parties. Ensures important calls, messages, and faxed information are transferred in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
- Operate radio system to communicate with departments.
- Monitor systems to detect serious malfunction of elevators, escalators, fire alarms, emergency doors, heating, air-conditioning, or HVAC systems.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Act as backup to the badging office.
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position.
- Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities may be assigned at any time.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with Lincoln Airport Authority policies, procedures, and safety practices.
- Exhibit a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional demeanor.
- Maintain familiarity with aviation and airline industry terms.
- Speak with clarity, and read and write English fluently.
- Perform satisfactorily under pressure to meet set schedules and budgetary guidelines.
- Possess excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, be organized, accurate, and reliable.
- Recognize and maintain the confidentiality and sensitivity of certain documents and information.
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology.
- Be flexible, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff as well as outside clients and vendors.
- Be part of a team to accomplish the necessary work.
Education and Experience
- Related experience and/or training preferred.

Work Environment
- This is an office environment having computers, printers, telecommunication tools, desks, file cabinets & storage areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Condition of Employment
- The employee is required to meet the essential functions, skills, abilities, etc. listed in this document. The employee must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion of pre-employment reference check, drug screening, criminal history check (required by the Transportation Security Administration) and other requirements as per Lincoln Airport Authority policy. Any associated costs for the screenings will be covered by the Lincoln Airport Authority.
